The end of a year is always a great time to pause, take time to reflect, and to be grateful for what has happened over the past 12 months. One fun way to do that is to look back on your top 9 Instagram posts.
This year has been a whirlwind of growth, creativity, and personal milestones for me, both as a photographer and beyond.

Social media has been an amazing way to connect with all of you, and it’s always fun to see which moments resonate the most. A Year of Professional and Personal Growth
This year, I made the decision to write my website and blog content in English. It’s been a deliberate and thoughtful choice, recognizing that my ideal clients are either fluent in English or comfortable translating my pages to Dutch. I’ve never made any attempt to hide the fact that I am an expat American photographer- it’s even reflected in how I combined my Anglo Saxon name with the Dutch word for photography. It’s been wonderful to see how this has opened up connections with families and couples who truly value the style and soul of my photography.
As a photographer, 2024 has been filled with unforgettable moments. Some highlights include:
Capturing a series of breathtaking micro weddings that were intimate, heartfelt, and incredibly personal.
Earning the BYU Pathway Program Certificate as I progress towards my Bachelors of Business Management.
Working with families to create timeless portraits that they will cherish forever.
Exploring new creative techniques and perspectives to keep my work fresh and inspired.
Personal Milestones Worth Celebrating
Life outside of work has been just as eventful and rewarding this year. Some highlights include:
My oldest daughter graduating from secondary school — a huge milestone that made me incredibly proud.
My son turning 18 and stepping into adulthood. Watching him grow into the person he is today has been such a joy.
Traveling to Scotland with my daughter for a well-deserved break. The stunning landscapes and shared experiences were unforgettable and a perfect reminder of why it’s important to take time for ourselves.
Starting a new role with The Xpat Agent as a content manager writing in English whilst working in a Dutch speaking environment. This opportunity has been an exciting new chapter, blending my love of storytelling with a vibrant international community.
Embracing Dutch Culture
Living in the Netherlands continues to be a source of joy and inspiration. From cycling through picturesque streets to enjoying gezellig evenings with friends and family, I’ve come to appreciate the charm and warmth of Dutch culture. It’s a privilege to call this beautiful country home and draw inspiration from its people and landscapes.
This year marks the completion of my inburgering (integration) exams, and our application for permanent residency. I look forward to having our application accepted in the coming year.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As I look ahead to 2025, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation for what’s to come. Whether it’s new photography projects, personal adventures, or moments of quiet reflection, I’m ready to embrace it all. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Your trust, support, and kindness mean the world to me.

Amy, This was a great way to re-capture the year and re-celebrate some of your accomplishments. We know there are many more. It has been a privilege for Laurie and me to gain a new friend who we love and admire so much. We didn’t know about The Xpat Agent role until now, but it makes us very happy and excited for you.
