Quite the contrary, in fact. If you think about it, a knot that gets wet is much harder to untie, and at a wedding we always think about tying the knot. This is especially true at a hand-tying ceremony that Pascalle and Chris had, where their hands were symbolically tied to symbolise their commitment to each other. But the weather had another blessing for Pascalle & Chris’ outdoor garden wedding, in the morning it rained buckets out of the sky, but it stopped just in time for the afternoon ceremony. The sun was shining even as Pascalle and her father walked down the aisle. It’s that undeniable touch of glory on an already beautiful day that I absolutely love.
From growing up near Roosendaal in the Netherlands & performing on West End in England, to now lending her voice and talents to teach others how to share their voice in a resonant way through her company Presentales. Pascalle knows the value of communication. And from the moment she met Chris, she knew he was the one for her. Chris grew up in England in a close-knit family. Having lived in England myself, I loved photographing this wedding. It was also convenient for Pascalle & Chris that I could easily switch between Dutch and English with all the guests.
When Pascalle first contacted me, we talked at length on the phone about how she had met Chris, what her vision for the wedding day was, and how enthusiastically she was planning much of it herself. As someone who also likes to keep the planning in her own hands, I totally understood! And from the private church ceremony with grandparents to the hand-tie ceremony in Pascalle’s parents’ garden, this wedding deeply reflected not only Pascalle & Chris’ love for each other, but also the family and friends surrounding them as a couple. Every part planned had significant meaning for the couple, right down to their adorable, soft ring bearers Herbert & Archie.
Pascalle wanted a First Look with her father, and she and Chris wanted a moment where they could hold hands and talk without actually seeing each other before the ceremony. They wanted it to remain a private moment for the guests who would naturally arrive. I scoured the area looking for a suitable location that wouldn’t stain her beautiful dress, and I ended up with the footpath to the front door that ended in a beautiful arched hedge. Pascalle’s cousin Saar was the capable master of ceremonies and I asked her boyfriend Lukas to hold up a sheet to block the view for others. He did an excellent job and I am grateful to both him and Saar for all their help in making it a wonderful day for Pascalle & Chris.
And what a day! From all the hugs, the beautiful speeches and the gorgeous early fall weather, to the clever details and precious moments, and everyone who helped with the always active and adorable Herbert & Archie. This wedding is one to never forget. I wish Pascalle & Chris all the best and many, many more happy years together. May you forever make the most beautiful stories together & continue to support each other through life’s ups and downs.
